Blog: Bolt of Sunshine

Waking up early if good, but if you got up before 4 in the nite, thats 4 A.M. and then you see the sun rising, you can almost feel the tickle of sun rays if not bolt of sunshine. The days has just started for me. I am wondering, if I buy my own silence when I blog?

So let there be peace. (silence, that is)
* Yearning to add to this post. Let see, how the day spreads out to be.

India wins the series. Brilliant.

Time to reminiscent of what happened through the year, extend weekend on the offering, festive greetings. All of thrill in the air. Lot many things to be thought off, lot many things to do, with exams around the corner, the verve for the New Year party isn't quiet there. But then there is always more to look forward to rather than look back at.

Something that roving within me one of the articles which suggested that we are relying too much on Internet, which is hampering out creativity because are problems are in real world hence solutions to those should also be thought in the real world. A few noises bickering inside me. Yes I had resolved to write apart from cricket, but I often feel that my thought are nascent and radical. Here radical means mocking and challenging my own self rather than kick dirt into someones face or demeaning someone emotions, ideas beliefs or those kind of things. I dont want to take off anything that I post. I dont want to create any havoc for which I will have to write another half a dozen post. Yes I can take the comments of those posts, but thats not my idea of post.

I am actually thrilled to have written for so long. Now consistency is the challenge. I have written many a blog post only finding myself to bored to post it. I think blogging once in three days is perfect for me. But then you get so absorbed in your own ideas, rest of the things appear to diminish into sweet little nothings.

I always thought changing myself was easy. I am slowly realizing it is not. I don't seek to galvanize myself, I want to undertake a metamorphosis besides thinking and wanting to write I know there is more to my life. I tired searching Google to know whats the aim of my life, bloody Net got disconnected. :P

On a serious note, humour is must in life. Not many who read this may find it amusing, but I did afford myself a chuckle to myself as I was writing this one.

Festive Greetings.

You Are Merry and Spontaneous

You approach the holidays with joy and playfulness.

You refuse to let the holidays be stressful. They should only be about fun.

The holidays truly make you feel like a kid again.

And you believe it's your job to make everyone else feel like a kid too!

Of all the types, you're the most likely to give someone a gift early... because you can't wait.

You're also the most likely to wrap your presents quickly - or not at all.

Blog: Long nite tonite

This is the real time snap of the planet I got it from here today is winter solistice, ie longest nite and shortest day of the calendar, of course for the northern hemisphere. The year is almost over and the new year is on the door step. The new year would be rushing with a Full Moon nite, which would also witness a Lunar eclipse, this year and day started and ended on the same day, Thursday. As if this year was short of action.

My semester exams begin early in Jan, and will last for like a fortnight. I would love to look back at the year, but will do it some other time. Lets just label that as fodder for thought and ruminate on that. I often wonder if I have left the ages behind or I am behind the herd by ages  ... :P such is life. But somehow I prefer the time which  will come rather than rue what happened. I always believe you can repair the damage or loss of the previous day, but for that you be a determinied, ever persevering and genuine, show a show of touch up wont help the cause.

Nothing fails as COP15 (read failure)

Some concerns in last few days were Copenhagen, someone on twitter suggest it is Nopenhagen. Something concrete coming out was remote, so the fiasco wasnt a suprise to me. USA did promise some cuts which only pointed to their moral bankruptcy apart from Financial riches which we have now been accusmoted to (by now). I thought they would be true world leaders and come out with agressive Carbon cuts, wasnt to be. The world largest polluter should accept their misdoings and convince there scientist and policy makers in a positive direction.

I mean everyone pointing towards India and China, I am convinced that the American and European companies operating there subsidiary in developing countries including India and China don't follow respective European and American norms of emissions. I don't imagine emission norms in India (if not China) are as strict as the norms of some of the developed countries. I would have loved to see the emissions level of a company operating in say USA or Canada or Australia and their, subsidiary working in India. It would make such an interesting reading.

No I am not suggesting India and China or Ethiopia should just keep on pumping Carbon into the biosphere in the name of developement. I am strictly for strict, enforcing emissions cute which would ensure Carbon emission reduced gradually. I think there is a case especially for India to invest into Solar, Hydro and Nuclear energy. Dont get too skeptic of word Nuclear, it sis urely for electicity. I mean imagine the business sense in going from conventional energy to solar and hydro power. I am a big fan of use of solar and wind form of energy. Ther is a lot more can be done. There is also a case od developing Green Houses to fight Green House Gases. Plantation and increase forest cover is the surest way of reducing if not reversing effect of Green house Gases.

Would you agree the growing population is challenge towards afforestation and re-plantation of tress? Yes? Here is where more sense comes into picture. I would love to cite, the example of Jaipur city. In many of the residential areas a group of 9-12 houses have a common garden so each house has access to may be three to four garden in the vicinity. Think about it a lot could be done that would be beneficial to al, instead of just piling concrete columns one on top of another.
But then it is something I just wish to see being implemented. The sooner the better. But then it is just a hope, dont see that happening on as large a scale as we can.

American citizens perpetrators on 26 Nov 2008?

Second controversy that haunts me is David Headley or whatever his name is. I don't think he is the king pin of the whole affair. The gut feeling suggest so. He is the fall guy. I don't think he worked alone, so there is a terrorist network thriving in USA. CIA did come out saying that neither Rana or Headley/whatever didn't work for them. Logical statement, nothing suprising. But then there has to be obviously more to this. Mumbai Police came out after 26 Nov 2008 that there was no ground support for the terrorist, that theory at least is put to rest now, and there was a definite plan with the terrorist that nite, they were definitely not wandering mercenaries. It would n't be wrong to assume, that the terrorist were trained personnel. They may have been trained for years, before they operation was even conceived. I mean to keep National Security Guards a bay for 60 hours, is something not you or I can do. I mean just civilians wont be able to do that. I requires some advance training with lot of co-ordination planning and exemplary skills. I can just pray that I am wrong and note making a mountain of a mole hill. But the fact is the 26 Nov 2008 want just a mole hill.

Can we do a Munich for conspirators of 26 Nov 2008?

Cricket: India Numero Uno

There are couple of reasons for Indian cricket fans to rejoice a clinical performance by Indians to beat Lankan 2-0. All that noise about Test matches are breathing their last, franchisee debate, and other noise can take a breather for a while, coz Test matches are the foundation of cricket and I don’t see any building lasting for long if the foundations eroded, or undermined.

It's a long post, since it is a series review it better be a long one. So it is match by match the whole review of the series, stringed with who did what and when. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.

First Test, Ahmadabad

Early morning jitters, India 32 for 4

The writing was pretty much on the Wall and didn’t he stand tall? India tottering at 32 with big names and big guns trailing back to pavilion often the case Dravid kept his head down and stood the storm, also scored run and steered India to some respectability, Yuvraj eased of the work load and then Dravid went on to make a century. Captain courageous, MSD also added muscle with a stoic century in the first innings.

Jayawardene, the long distance runner.

Jayawardene almost easily fits into any batting situation and can change gears so easily, his batting is pristine and very good looking to the eye something same as Dravid. They both bat in such similar fashion. Jayawardene batted and batted and simply dismantle India bowling after Dilshan flayed it to all corners. The pitch was a dead beat, as is the case with most Ahmadabad pitches. Dilshan is having such a good time and at this point in time made no false stroke. He blasted the India bowling and rightfully earned a century, the keeper Jayawardene also notched up a meaty 154, and all hopes of a result had ended.

Gambhir and Tendulkar score tonnes.

It was for gone conclusion that the match would be a draw. Sehwag made amends scored a fifty, Gambhir the best India batsmen in any form of the game played a solid innings and with every run he scored, possibility of a draw become stronger. Tendulkar perhaps played on the easiest fifth day pitch ever in 20 years of profession top level cricket. At least it was an easiest hundred (if there is one) he would have ever made. But runs have to be scored. In the dying moments of the day he completes a terrific feat.

Second test, Green Park, Kanpur.

Runs were flowing, alrite.

Green Park one of the traditional venues in India cricket history others being Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengalluru. Jasu Patel an off spinner was bought back and scripted a magnificent tale of beating Aussies. He was the one who held the India record for most dismissals claimed by a bowler, before Kumble had got perfect 10. These venues again saw a famous India victory, that too by a huge margin. Sehwag, Gambir and Co set of the pyro and before the dust settled, Lankan were forced to follow on, courtesy a bewildering spell by Sree Santh. Sehwag smacked a century at better than run a ball, Gambhir not wanting to miss out again and extended his good form also came up with superlative century, Dravid again stamped his authority ensuring there are no unwanted hiccups. This was the first instance since 2003 that Sehwag scored a century and didn’t cross 150. Dravid was out the only way he could be out, falling short do the crease at non strikers end, worst way to get out. Sehwag, Gambhir and Dravid together scored more than 400 runs; Lankans were looking at the wrong end of the barrel. India having scored nearly 650 runs at more than four an over meant Lankans were always catching up.

Lankans follow on, only to falter again

The mad cap Sree Santh, gifted with such beautiful action and just back creating havoc for Warwickshire on the county circuit under watchful eye of Donald, came from nowhere and made Lankan cold sweat. He made the ball do the talking and the ball seamed and swinged and Sree Santh brought back the memories of South Africa. The ball to get Prussian Jayawardene was a peach and could have got any right hand batsman. Amazing control. He kept on plugging away. He got a 5 wicket haul and redeemed himself, and grabbed headline news for cricketing reasons off course all with positive intent and connotation. Lankans forced to follow on. At the end of the fourth day they were trailing in second innings and the score read 57 for 4, the result was in sight for the Indians, the job was just half done.

Bit more shocks and India snubbed the remaining six wickets.

Final Test, CCI, Mumbai.

Again a chapter in History beacons, Wankhede under construction saw Brabourne hosting a test match first time in over 36 years. Sangakarra won the toss and elected to bat.

What seemed good …?

Lankans battled hard, Dilshan boosted the scoring rate and also getting one more century. He looks so formidable and nearly impossible to dislodge. Lankans batted for a day and a session and scored nearly what seemed a good 400 hundred. Sehwag also had a few ideas and few strokes up his sleeve.

Gambhir opting out paved way for Murali Vijay. Sehwag and Murali, opened the innings. Their scoring rate opened the flood gates and Sehwag kept on pumping boundaries and sixes. No way was Muralidharan was allowed to dominate. Murali meanwhile matched Sehwag stroke for stroke, if not in quantity then surely in quality. He provided ample support and made sure Sehwag wasn’t starved of strike. Sehwag kept on smashing thunderbolts. I mean with what regularity he score over 150. There was more agony. It was the second time in couple of years that Sehwag scored a double century stand with two consecutive batsmen. I mean alrite you have to physically be there in sun all day, but the mental strength to keep going on was immense, all with a smile, Viru kept licking his lips and smacking them to all parts, last half and hour saw Viru cooling down, Dravid did bulk of the scoring.

India high on MSD

In order to rub it in, India had a quiet second day until an hour after Tea when Dhoni, seemed to be cursing decided to go berserk. Lead nearing 300 and Dhoni kept ignoring singles and kept hitting sixes, all of a sudden 100 was in sights. Dhoni smacked on of hearth way out of CCI and claimed a six and bottled a 100 and declared with Lankans trailing with 333.

The day of reckoning not to be.

I had imagined Lankans being all out in the day, wasn’t to be. They fought hard and looked to put intrepid performance, Paranavithana looking cool calm and composed. Bhajji got his man Dilshan padding up and the slide started. Zaheer meanwhile put his hand up and bowled with great heart and control keeping the runs tight, three quick wickets in the session and one though Lankans would just go bust. Sanga held fort and what looked like a fighting century was there for the taking. He smacked a very good hundred,

The final day.

Sanga the hero of the earlier day started with couple of boundaries only to be foxed by Zaheer, again. Zaheer on romp with a fifer up for grabs. One dog in short was to big to keep down for Heart, Ojha taking it neat, only two steps away from a victory. Sree Santh didn’t bowl for some reason. I wished he would have. Bhajji was persisted with. Another short pitch ball saw Kulasekara edging Zaheer to Laxman. Murali on the prowl was some quick runs. A couple of hefty hits and one of Bhajji. Bhajji floated and tossed one just a bit higher, Murali edge Bhajji to Dhoni and India completed the test win, flayed Lankans 2-0 in the series and were rewarded with Numero Uno Status of best Test Playing Team.

It was a very emphatic series win and the clout of Dhoni continues to grow. So far so good.

Blog: Do Lives move on?

For the moment, my twitter account and FB updates are eating into my blogger account, I managed to sync, twitter and FB so these days blogs are seldom happening, meanwhile FB status updates and tweets are riding the crescent of the wave so to speak (read update). As wheel of time has moved on, an year has gone by since the dreaded 26 November 2008. I managed to watched some documentaries on Nat Geo and Discovery, and felt cold blood running through my veins and I gnawed and ground my teeth in utter frustration and dismay at what I heard and saw on the TV set. I mean yes people attacked, and there are a courageous few who stood up in the faced of death. Not many would remember there names, but a few lives were forced to change their course forever.

Personally for me the following have no proof, but I consider these as refutable.

  • It wasn’t an act of terror; it was an act of War.
  • Mumbai in spite of being in most vulnerable didn’t not learn from the past and rather chose to remain stoic.
  • I simply cannot believe there were no intelligent inputs, ground support for the shams which were perpetrated.
  • Bullet has no name; people of all kind were struck down, no ones safe.
  • Our Police Laws which were supposedly framed in 1860 (A.D.) and consequently remained unchanged for what seems to be forever need a major re-haul ASAP.
  • No one is accountable - police, politicians, pot holes.
  • R.R Patil came back to become the Home Minister, iss des mein aisi chhoti naatein hamesha hoti rahengi.
  • I and you need to look at ourselves and define our (Mine and Your) role in the society.
  • I am not sure who is guilty of what, but I am beginning to feel the guilt of a shameful citizen.

There is another thing which am I truly misunderstand, the stance of every scribe and anyone with a mic in his hand and camera on his face screeching the resilience, and all that noise, exclaiming how the city has moved on and how it simply won't bow to anyone, etc. I mean as if there is a choice. I guess not, whatever happens life just moves on and we should take the cue. Simply not done. One more question to ponder, if News Channels now, are more entertainment then information. Considering some news channels are just alive because of sites like Youtube etc, I prefer to look at the source itself. Blogs are updated faster while it takes time to copy those and mutilate them and turn them to feeds for News Channels.

A line from the movie Patriot come to my mind, "Why should I trade one tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants one mile away?"

26 November placed a scar in my mind. The ill preparation, casual lack of purpose and deeds of people in post responsibilities hurt me more than misdeeds of Commandos who posed as terrorists.

Blog: Overanalyzed and under achieved

I was wondering if we interpret the world around us, as an outward projection of our thoughts biases and prejudices. It the world around around us satisfies the matrix of our thoughts, prejudices and biases, then it is good and we all are happy. I hope that isn't true.I hope I never formulate this matrix. For all this while, i.e. for a long time, the outward projection thought didn’t struck me as bolt of lightening. I don’t know if it is bad. After all, the brain sees what it chooses to see. Where time is of essence; being on the button is desirable. The more desirable to that is to understand haste makes waste. Yes all of our lives are over analyzed and under achieved. For many in this world going through a day safely is an achievement, for some earning a square meal are the highest echelon of achievement, there are those like me as well, who still pondering why things are the way they are. At times I feel so spooky coz I know or see things coming before many around me realize what lies ahead, its not correct always, but I get jitters when it is correct. Like so many things around it is is not something I acknowledge to myself. I am increasingly thinking of keep my thoughts to myself, No I haven't found a treasure map, at least as I write this post. Some times blurting things out is the most valid proof of you being stupid. This time around, I don’t want to stump myself by blurting it out.

But yeah like many I do keep getting those weird type of bolts of thunder lightening. I also get those sinusoidal waves or cosine waves. You feel distraught and when the worst come you decide to stand of your two feet and take control.

Then there is a cross between, wanting your blog to read by many but not everyone, who breathes in your closest realm.
  • More on that some other time, weekend is here and provides a window of an opportunity to catch up with old mates. Beer, chicken and some food for though on cards.
  • At times a half a page of blog weighs much more than a tonnage of a long post.
  • A day spent without laughter is a day wasted.

Cricket: Bhajji makes a thrilling end.

I don’t know if any other team can make a match this exciting but Indian team for better or worse makes one sided match interesting and exciting. This match can be review by reviewing how Bhajji’s day fared. It would pretty much, explain what things went right or wrong for the team. It’s been a while since I blogged on cricket, I would like to present a warm greetings, to anyone who visits my blog only for reading cricket post. I don’t know if anyone does, but then, I am learning to be gracious host.

Punter makes a right call.

Punter, got his call right and that the thing he would like to do. Set targets. He in this way backs his bowlers, Siddle, Johnson, Lee and Watson and says to the batsmen that if the fight it out and make a decent score the fragile mindset of Indian batsmen would be put under pressure and may wilt even when everything might be going fine. Watson came and went, but Punter again build a o platform for Hussey & Co to latter exploit the meek Indian bowling, Hussey has now put the previous Ashes defeat way behind and looks good and more consistent. Cameron White also compiled a good half century. He holed out to Raina, as he skied one off Nehra, I thought it was lucky break. Praveen Kumar, was unlocked in no time, Hussey smacked couple of boundaries and it was only last good over by Ishant that restricted kangaroos, to 293.

Bowling proving to be a heavy burden.

Indian bowling the traditional weak link not likely to blow away any self respecting Test team. Bhajji is woefully out of form; yes he did well in Sri Lanka. He would do well against Sri Lanka anytime, but his performance in South Africa during Champion’s Trophy wasn’t exactly thrilling. Bhajji went for a 5 an over without getting any wickets. He proved too expensive and ineffective. Apart from a decent bowling, in final against the Lankans, seeing Bhajji bowling doesn’t convinces me that he will set cat among the pigeons and turn the game around. I may be guilty of having that image of Bhajji, of years ago when he amassed bag full of wicket against Aussies including a hat trick. He has done well in patches. I think Bhajji needs to reassess his bowling as well as how others play him.

I don’t know about the future but Bhajji doing well is vital for this series. He has to stand up and deliver.

India batting, seemed out of sorts, lost and rusty.

Sehwag started with lots of gusto and gung ho but it was lost pretty soon. Tendulkar played the match but never seemed to be quiet there. I played and prodded to no effect. I wonder if there is a team cause for which, Sehwag and Gambhir are the best opening pair for this team. The advantage, they open in all form of the game. It must be remembered that we always, not have had, a settled opening partnership especially in Test. Sachin and Sourav formed a great opening for a good while. But for the sake of team Sachin, should drop down the batting order. Dravid, being dropped is inexplicable and unwarranted. Yusuf Pathan being dropped is also equally inexplicable.

Often in life, business, profession, or cooking, you have to use your resource in the right order, to avoid screw ups. Isn’t is about dong right things at the right time? The emphasis is getting both right, time and things. I think batsmen are good and look hungry the point is batting order needs to be rejiged. Dhoni, Gambhir and Tendulkar all seem to be batting at wrong places.

Aussies lead the seven match series 1-0, six more matches to go.

P.S.: The test of pudding is in the eating, especially if you had chicken tikka, chicken kadhai, tandoori roti and a super chilled beer for dinner.

Happy Week.

Blog: I see what we see.

Would you be thrilled, if your anticipation in life was Superlative? If you could almost; "first guess" what the person in front you or on the opposite end of the table would be thinking? I hope all of you know what second guess is, let me put it in my own words, it would be like understanding the rationale of the action the person on front of you, or the person competing with you undertakes. "First guess" would be something what Bobby Fischer would likely to do, almost influence the opposition player to walk into your trap. The person is not only happily walking in but buying you a nice bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine if not a magnum of champagne.

I am no Bobby Fischer, I loved chess and I am a decent chess player that’s it. I knew how the pawns would would move, how the Knight would hop and jump, how the bishop looked like and why the Queen was always feared. But this is nothing to do with my professional/personal/whatever, life. I sometimes end up first guessing; often it’s good, often I land, or better said, crash myself into soup. I had read some where long time back that it’s simple for Gemini’s to land themselves in a tough situation and it is far more simpler to get out of those tight corners. Ok, it was equally simpler. The thing, what I read stuck with me, but me getting out of situation has not always been hot knife through the butter kind of a case.

I am at times, more gullible then I want to be but I would credit (and point a finger) to me, being often too gregarious to be true. Even if you think for all, a little bias is one of the toughest sentiments to ignore, hide and subdue. When people try to hide what wrong they did, or what right things they couldn’t do, you can almost smell them covering themselves with something just to cover their tracks. There are lot many things. Often people react in way that you hear between the lines. The cooked story is so hilarious. It often amuses me that people who think they know you so much Then add the people who dont know you. I think it is far more hilarious then how people react with you when they know you.

Everyone has limit to what they hear, see, touch, smell, taste. But I think if you want to dearly undermine your own being, start being prudish, act infallible and thrust your opinions on others. The very second you start doing this; you will feel worst then stink of your garbage bin. You will. I think you don’t want to assume anyone fallible. Don’t ever do that. Ever. It is the perfect recipe for disaster. It however could be freely interpreted to being fearful of your own being. But then if you now you are good and help people to climb up to the same strata and also helping them avoid the pitfalls that tested you, you would do fine.

If you are bad, to end something you need to recognize that you are rank bad and you want to improve for the better. Curtailing, avoiding or giving up smoking for example. Yeah I know who cool it is to puff that thing which are fire on one end and fool on another. I have been that fool for many a times in my life. But when I reduced smoking, I didn’t smoke, for three or four months straight, I just didn’t smoke. It is tough for me to give up smoking simply because it was the most easiest thing I could imagine doing. Buy a cigarette, light it, smoke it, simple. I still haven’t kicked away the habit, but I can happily say that it is pretty much in control. But in gullibility does kicks in from time to time. I do have a slight remorse. When is enough; simply enough? It is a personal decision. But, as an ex smoker, cigarette smoking if a tough ugly habit to kick away. Kudos to people who have done that, and a semblance of half pat on the back from I to me.

My MBA is just going fine, I cleared my first year a fortnight back. I am very skeptic of securing a job. Everyone's saying that things are changing for good, or things would have changed by the time I pass out of my MBA. It something I worry about a lot. I don’t worry about many things in life. There would be some who say I don’t worry at all. I worry about lot of things. I must confess. I pride myself as someone who can just sit back amidst a tough situation, smile on things that happened in past and present and then move on with renewed focus. A day without a smile is a wasted day.

I wonder if my thoughts are signs of time, but I am skeptic of things would unroll in the next coming weeks, months and years. I am not pessimistic though.

About: Blog Action Day

I got a bit late to post this particular post.15 October was Blog Action Day, check out the website. The topic for this year is climate change. When one talk of climate change the following comes to mind, carbon cycle, green technology, pollution, mean thinking.

Carbon cycle.

Understand one thing, everything in universe is going round, what happens is the environment is processing everything within its realm. If you could imagine, there is carbon present in all thing living and non living, it’s in a compound form with other elements, namely, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and others. We (read all living beings) consume food, use Oxygen to digest it or use Oxygen as a key to release the locked energy in food. This results in carbon di oxide and other gases, organic and inorganic. This carbon gets into the atmosphere and water bodies and prove to be a key ingredient, for plants to turn CO2 (cabin di oxide) into organic forms what you and I see as fruits vegetables flowers and others.

For more detailed (read correct) explantion check Google and Wikipedia.

This is how the cycle behaved for a long while, before we started abusing carbon rich fossil fuels post industrialization era resulted in more carbon, being released, unwanted cutting down of trees resulted in continuous release of carbon with no way turning it into organic form. This in a way, results in rising temperatures, which induces a chain reaction of its own, a few could be rising sea levels, more intensive cyclones, droughts, a number of flora and fauna going instinctive, depletion of the know famed Ozone layer and various other catastrophes. This all is occurring together at real time as I write this post. The scientist fear the worst, n some way, it may have changed your genes and may alter evolution in some form or another. After all we too are result of this alteration of genes, which lead evolution that gave (mistakably?) rise to species which resulted in us Humans.

There is a lot at stake. That’s to put matter mildly.

Green Technology.

This one is also about green shoots of a different kind. This is nothing but harnessing using, existing energy around us, like sun light, winds, tides and geo thermal energy. It can be used to produce electricity, or cooking (in case of solar heater). Kudos to all those who go sailing and don’t use fuel. In days older the sepia toned snaps; ships use to travel using winds of the ocean. Well the technology can be used either to produce electricity to be used in homes and offices etc. or various other purpose. Green technology must be used to make present equipments we use and make them more efficient so as to make them consume less energy.

Pollution.

Lot can be done here. I will focus on water pollution, especially industrial pollution. I have travelled my share in trains and road and travel daily. I think purely on the basis of economics, I think there is lot of scope if promote schemes that will help reduce water pollution. Sewage water treatment plants in cities, in societies will be very helpful but may yield result only after 3 to 5 years. I mean imagine, every society in suburbs of Mumbai, storing rain water, purifying it with separate lines for consumption or cooking and other line for other various uses. The water for bathing and other being reused. It will help reduce water consumption and help in reducing pollution. It may prove to be costly in near terms but will defiantly help if we keep using and updating technology for say twenty years. I think it make sense.

Mean thinking.

Stop taking receipts at atm. Avoid hot showers, anyways the tap spew hot water after 11 in the morning (that’s for tropical country like India). Check you expenses online. Don’t print emails and messages mercilessly. For once before driving anywhere can you walk down and perhaps the world isn’t falling apart. Keep electrical equipments switched off and pull the plug out of the socket. Don’t keep the fans and tube lights running. I hate running taps.

Blog: Speeding weekend

It is a welcome to Monday morning. Well, at most time you dread the Monday morning,it is one rush of blood you want to avoid at every given opportunity. But if your weekend was well spent, and channel surfing didn’t cross your mind, you have go to confess, it was a weekend well spent.

Wine flew and mates.

A trip to Pune was in the offering for a while now, had long weekends here on consecutive weeks, so it just happened that things fell in the right place, including the bus tickets, the glasses of beer, the chilly chicken etc.

Go Pune, meet Sudeep.

A few phone calls were exchanged and an Ice-cream palour was decided. I was expecting to meet Sudeep but not expecting the shower, a quick chat and a photo-op. I was in a hurry, had fixed more botched meeting with a few friends. The rain came like it never did this year, under a canopy we chatted for a while, before I realized that I was cold and ice cream began to freeze again. What followed was another meeting with my ex-room mate from my college days. Five of us in all, each of us, making frantic phone calls, to decide the guest list. In the end, all (read only) five of us, went ahead, headed a heafty dinner.

The cold weather in Pune, made for a pleasant change. Mumbai was hot when I left for Pune, on Friday morning. But it was a pleaseant stay. I am not sure weather I wanted to freak out, but met friends from college times, found myself unwinding enough. It was a good break, you know, out of the ordinary kind a thing. The drive back thorugh Lonavala was so amazing. The bus drove on the curving roads on hill tops and clouds floating below, setting sun. There was some very picturesque scenery on the offering. I didn’t have my camera though.

The rains, since then haven’t stopped, it was thundering and raining all though the night. It always rains on Monday morning and Friday evening, right?

Say hello to Monday and the week.

Blog: Galleries,dark clouds and laughter

The motive for not updating as regularly as I want is the same. Anyways, I was just thinking of the same couple of things I wrote in the end of the last blog (one before the last post, actually). I think we all are playing to a certain gallery and worried so much playing to a certain section of the audience (here, the gallery) that we forget what we have to do and try to catch the attention of the audience. It is simply so easy to equate not getting a fruitful/positive/appreciating response to bad luck. It is so easy to dump our short coming to some external agent or event. I believe those are good are always good. Mean while I am too learning not to point ot channel my failures and disbelieves to certain other or the gallery.

Write something for your own good

Sometime you sit down on your terminal (laptop, desktop) etc. You just sit ideal and hope some where a lightening would strike and things just flow. Never does that happen. There are other times when you just happen to start right something and things start popping in you ahead like a pop corn machine and one things lead to another and here you get a good post. You may not write everything you ever wanted to write but a great amount of satisfaction is drawn. You afford your self an wry smile if not a grin reading what you have written. Then there is read cherry on top of the cake moment when the seamless unbound post attracts a few reader a few comments and all.

Dont only work out, laugh it out

The other aspect, when was the last time you went to bed free of worries with a little chuckle and burst of laughter and woke up feeling just right? Or waking up to another morning and bursting out laughing at what you have been misdoing and screwing it up for past couple of days. I think increasingly, seriousness which we pay to life is a little to over board. I wish to remind you that being humourous isn’t about being casual. You have to be seriously humourous and not casually or else you will see and hear the devil in you laughing in your dreams.

I was wondering if the silver lining in the dark cloud is humour. The dark cloud often leading to complicated situations. If those situations have come up with my own undoing then I should sort it out. When that’s done I should exhale with a deep breath, and understand what almost lead me to screw it up. If it is not my doing and I can afford a few minutes enjoying laughing on the situation and soon the light of hope will rush through tearing the clouds of dismay. The dark phase in life, could be for two reasons, either the situation is dark or you have closed you eyes so tight that you cant even imagine light even in your thoughts. That shouldn’t be.

Laugh on laughing clubs

No wonder that laughing clubs here in Mumbai are so popular … people go out there and just laugh. lol. I can just imagine what a laugh riot are. People just gather in small parks and garden. Its not that I go there every day. But I feel odd when I don’t have fair share of laughter in a day. I have fair share of it in the college. One it can be some one who genuinely stamps their own feat or it is the proff who teaches us or it is just a group of people who sit around and run amock.

Health is wealth, laughter is the best medicine. Spend some time alone and just laugh.

About: Asha Bhosle

Ashaji, perhaps will remain attached to the predicament, in the shadow of. There (speculated) rivalry both professional and sibling to Lataji, both perhaps caught the imagination of classes and masses. The question begs to be asked if Ashaji was to be born some other time, how much more she could have done.

Mass and class isn’t the only parameter to be judged Lata-Asha. The matter has been much speculated. There different personalities, Lataji is all austerity and almost divine, Ashaji is panache, lots of panache. It is very very difficult, to listen to Dum maro dum and not sway and to imagine not to be addicted to the voice. She sung some of the numbers which have stood the test of times. She sung for the the sex symbol of there respective times, Madhuballa, Zeenat, Waheeda, Nimmi Helen, Mumtaz, Sharmila just to name a few. It is fair to say, Ashaji voice only added to their charm, allure and oomph

It is tough to even select songs, she has sung more than a few. Wiki claims her to be the record holder for singer with most recorded songs. The number goes beyond 12000 if wiki could be quoted. The spectrum of her voice is her signature. The facet that most of her songs are still remixed and remade and redone, is testimony to the composers singers and lyricists of that bygone Golden Era of 1950s and 60s. She herself adapted to the changing music scene and re done some of the songs, and then also turned out, groovy songs for the popular culture. She has perhaps song for generations of heroines, sung for their mothers, then for the daughter. 60 long years into professional playback.

Dum maro dum
Aaye Meherban
Paan kaiye sayiyaan
Reshmi salwaar
Chura liya hai
Peeya tu … ab toh
Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo (my mother favourite song)
Aajaa Aajaa

The list is endless. Some of those are all time favourite clut classic songs.

Wishing her a belated birthday.

I am happy to say, a Happy Blog day to you all.

To all those who blogged even a post and all those who commented here.

31 August, if written simply can be written as 3108 … read out to be a blog, hence the word spreads arounf the world of Blogs, or blogosphere, blogworld, blogville or blogpur … what ever you may call it. Happy Blog day going out to amateurs, Professional, people who do it for money or just for fun … to all of them, in equal measure.

Also congratulations going out to the team, fans and follower of Force India, the Formula One team for winning their first podium. Fisichella stood second giving the team their first podium finish, I m sure Dr. Mallaya would be thrilled. It was an exciting race with Fisichella finish less than one second behind Kimi. Never the less the team and Dr Mallaya deserve to cherish their moment of accomplishment.

Blog Day

After contemplating writing a blog since Sunday afternoon, its Monday night as I scamper thru to complete a few more lines of blog ... to dress the blog as something which I have been writing with full concentarion and everything else behind this post, like some of the other post. The wrds seem to be lost and make me feel a bit weird and irritated. It the same kind of feeling you get when you forget why are you doing a thing after starting a thing, often happens when you are taking sometime from work or office and you have like 5 minutes and you have to reply 15 mails. A wrong nut and a brong bolt result in a major screw up. Happens.

A few more lines for my own contemplation then to provoke gray cells in the mind of exclusive (read very few and far) readers of the blogs.

You might have read those line from Shakespeare, All the world is a stage ...
1. I was contemplating if thats the case (not debating the quote) I would like to add that if we all are playing to a gallery?

2. Is Humour the silver lining in the dark cloud?

Cricket: And how the Ashes were won

It struck a chord with me when Ponting said all credit to the English team. Obviously the winner gets the loudest toast, the biggest cheer and most accolades. I won’t mince words for Ponting, I like him rather grudgingly as a player for the tones of runs, and he has scored. But I don’t think he has been the best captain Australia ever produced. Most avid Indian cricket fan remember him from the Sydney fiasco. It is easier to say bygones be bygones. I don’t know how many would savour an English win but many of us are in absolutely ecstatic when we realize that Aussies have lost. It is a similar high to when Indian team wins. The worry for Ponting the captain is that he seems to be out manoeuvred rather easily, Dhoni did it, Smith did it, Strauss has now done it.

I don’t think Ponting will enjoy tomorrow, especially if it were to rain all day at the Oval.

The Game, the review.

The do or die match. The pace and bounce of the Oval was to be grounded to a dust bowl, I would love to see that kind of a pitch when Indians or Pakis or Lankans visit England. Well it is just a wish. The Poms, huffed and puffed, to 325 + a respectable total, not considering what was to come. At 70 odd for none, the Aussies wouldn’t have imagined what was to come. They beat the English record of sorts for the series, earlier in the series; last 10 Pom wickets fell for 102 runs. The Aussies returned the favour when their last 10 wickets that fell for less than 90 runs. Poms with a lead of more than 170 runs, with 3 more days of cricket left, the result was written on the wall.

Broad just widened the gap with a stellar performance, Trott just added some more sugar on the cake, the cherry on the top moment was still to come. All though, Pom were struggling 57 for 3, Strauss the man in charge and Trott on debut resurrected the Poms ship and kept on pilling the agony for Aussies, Strauss out on a crucial moment, before the English, tail wagged and almost sung a fairy tale of sorts, Swann and Trott stealing 70 runs in 9 overs at one stage. Trott completed a magnificent century on debut. By the end of the Pom innings, the writing on the wall became firmly fixed in the minds of both the teams. It was the matter of time.

Aussies started again solidly, Katich and Watson looking good, but as in the case of most test matches, the first hour is crucial, two early wickets, made the task that bit jittery and all that Ponting and Hussey could do were to put their hands down and test the English patience.

The moment - “The red cherry on the top.”

It is amazing how little moments in everyday life lay claim to be turning points of history. This run out was one of those moments which would be remembered for the Ashes 2009. It occurred when the result of the game was a fore gone conclusion; it was just the matter of how and not when. The moment came, when Hussey played down to Mid on, and Ponting was caught on his heels, big man Flintoff scooped down and whipped it back to claim a direct hit, Ponting, was short by a foot or more. It was hara-kiri. The moment symbolized how Ponting gave it all that he could, but still fell short of the mark and how Flintoff could inspire the Poms even with shear presence. There have been many a glorious exits of the game, Flintoff wasn’t to have one. He laboured all along the series made sure Poms won the Ashes back only to bow out of tests.

All the numbers and times of victory.

Aussies bowlers took more wickets, their batsmen score more, centuries, looked more daunting. The Pommies hold fort, looked conventional, bore the Aussies out of the skin. While Poms looked to be doing all the catching up to done, Aussies will look back long and hard at lot of things including how and why the Ashes were lost. One of the reasons I think is Aussie rate of scoring runs. While not all bowlers looked threatening for an appreciable time, the Aussies didn’t exactly run away at the usual 3.5 to 4 an over run rate, the deciding factor of the series. Yes the Aussies did score runs, but perhaps a touch too leisurely I guess. The Poms managed to score 4 an over 5 times (not including a 3.9) in the series, the Aussies managed it just once. Well we can analyse or dig deep into what was done, but the fact remains, that poor team selection that the Aussies did make their task that bit harder. It would also be easier to say that’s high fliers like Clarke, North, Ponting and Haddin, files in just couple of times in the series, and the Ashes was won. Hussey didn’t give much to cheer except helping himself with a century in a losing cause that helped me take his head off, from the chopping board. One can dig as deep into the numbers the deeper you go into the number the more you would realize that the result was fair. I for once wish to say that Poms won the Ashes, instead of Aussies losing it.

Strauss, the man of the season.

He led the series for the Poms and looked the best player by far. Strauss may not have the charisma and may not stand out as a natural leader. He chose to stamp his authority not by his demeanour and presence but through his performance. The master stroke in the whole series was to rest Flintoff. He might have said to the team, that the challenge is to beat Aussies without Flintoff and Ashes is ours for the taking, if we lose, then we would have one more chance to beat the Aussies. Yes it was gamble to be taken, but Aussies took the bait. Strauss lost the battle to win the war and reduces the Aussies chances retaining the Ashes on a dusty oval pitch. He made a few daring calls, he managed to pull them off and reaped rewards.

The Challenge for Poms is now beat Australia in Australia and retain the Ashes.

Blog: If wishes came true

I often wonder, what lies beyond the horizons. Errm emm hmm … should I have corrected myself for horizons and replace it by a much more apt word; horizon. The difference is just ever so slight. In most things, and matter we deal in life, the difference is just a slight and you can get a completely different scenarios. I am not talking about what if Adam would have met Madonna before Eve and what if Madonna had given him singing and dancing lessons or adopted him or for that matter, if Adam had eaten the serpent instead of the apple, would then, the apple still fallen in front of Newton? The debate is pretty much endless, something time is not. It is definitely anything to do with ifs and what ifs and the what if nots. I mean there is no end to it.

After all everything that has a beginning has a have end, perhaps the never stated part is you have neither there is a will or control over the beginning or the end. I first heard that on the television while matching Mahabharata when I was a kid, then heard it once again a few days back when I was watching the movie, the Matrix. The double references were made so that there would be no chance of me double crossing.

It will never ever make sense, I mean this world, if you don’t think about it, be patient with yourself and you put genuine effort to change the necessary condition. I wonder if the best sleep is when you are busy on something, something as alluring as first rays of the sun, the enigmatic black trouser, that cool cool ice tea, a Coke, or smile or make someone smile and then you you get up and just now what is the right thing to do and how best you can do it. Yes seeing someone smile in present scenario is growing to become one of the most alluring things in this present age, especially when a smile is reduce to a, : and a, ).

For me, it in not what or how much I know, it is what I realize that is more important for me, I hardly talk about me in my blogs, I never wanted to try it. I think putting across my opinions is simple, but conveying emotions is particular tough for me, I guess that true for all. I have respect for people who emote very well, and actually (read in fact) convey what they feel, unfortunately I have known many people who do that or either appreciates that, I don’t, I know. I don’t know if I blog behind a veil or imagination or mask of indemnity of a fear or I actually put on something I don’t have to justify the words I write, the sentence I write the opinions I express. I am still not clear with the reason I blog. I guess there is no reason because there is no aim why I blog. I have contemplated over this quiet frequently is last couple of fortnights if not more. I do contemplate if the need arises.

Swine flu.

Well the scare is on, I don’t know what causes what are the symptoms of it. All I know is the fear psychosis of it will cause more damage then the actual thing might. There is this big weekend coming up, Janamashtmi, Independence Day and Sunday, so may be if people wanna, stay at home for just tomorrow it wont be a worry. I mean staying away from offices and public areas. I wonder if that’s the best thing to do.

From the classic movie,Sholay, its been reported that many people vied desperately to play Gabbar,Amitabh did play Babban after all those years in a rather forgetful movie. But yeah lot of people did want to play that role. A couple of all time, great dialogues are here in this scene. Take time to watch it. Its fun, for more off course there is the whole movie, anyone who has followed Hindi movie, ought to have scenes this. Sholay will always remains el classico of all Hindia movies. I could simply say Sholay has always been hot. :D

Cricket: Flintoff vs Aussies

The drama continues to unfold as Aussies and Poms lock horns for the third test over the series. It’s an observation of mine, that both Aussies and Poms have had similar nature of problems, similar nature of performances. The injuries to Lee and to Pietersen, the fragile top order, lack luster performance of frontline bowlers, Broad and Johnson, the performance of the offies, Haurtiz and Swann, the centuries by captains, Strauss and Ponting. But I think the Aussies have a better middle order. I think both teams reluctance to beef up bowling i.e. both Stuart Clark, and Harmisson are busy chit chatting on the sidelines. So if someone said it has been an even contest, then the preceding are some proof of that.

The only differentiating the two teams is the colossal persona of Andrew Flintoff who like Ursa Major seems to be guiding the English Ashes conquest.

I have been dearly following and blogging cricket for some amount of time, I haven’t seen too many ex-captains playing in an Aussie team. I mean Indian test team has Tendulkar and Dravid also when Ganguly was also playing, they were all their (and will be there for some time at least) in the playing eleven led by Dhoni, there is Lankan team right now (playing ODIs) where Jaywardene and Jayasuriya both ex-captains are currently playing in the eleven, take Pakis for example in they have had such similar teams. But not Aussies, they keep captains till they retire or get/ forced dropped. I don’t mean that Ponting should be dropped or ex communicated. He is a terrific player, but he is one of the generation kind of Aussie captain who regularly gets beaten in tactics and seems to have just one plan.

I mean Punter is Punk’d. Flintoff retirement was surprise for most, but Ponting is not good at trademark Aussie verbatim, the entire barrage you associate with Aussie cricket players. He is undermining his own case; I wonder if he (Ponting) surely understands the gravity of the situation of this series. Why do you want to incite someone like Flintoff for any reason? Flintoff has been on and off the field with injuries, but when he is on song, he is the best bowler in the two teams combines and looks very lethal on top of his bowling mark with the red cherry in his hand. He won the last test doing it a la Botham style, on the very day, Botham eclipsed Aussies at a test in Headingley (1981), Aussies enforced the follow on and went on to lose (they have been the only team to do so and lose), Botham smacking a century and Bob Willis scything the Aussies bats. The test is remembered as Botham's test and the series the Botham’s Series. The clock did finally turn after 27 years as Flintoff completed the turn by blasting through the Aussies batting on teh final day of the Lords test. Flintoff not only defeated the Aussies, but also history in some ways, as Poms posted there first victory over Aussies at Lords in over 75 years, the home of Cricket’s Holy Grail, The Ashes and also home of English Cricket.

Flintoff isn’t far off, I wonder if he would make a century in this series for the remainder of the three matches (this one included in three)

The series could be more riveting if both captains chose team on merit of abilities. Stuart Clarke and Watson are a must for this Aussie team. Watson seems to have funk you need in cricket, he get something extra to bring it on the table. Harmisson should be there his pace and bounce will upset the Aussies, and also will cut down on load from Flintoff, this making the Pom bowling attack shaper. Swann will play coz Aussies have been traditional very ordinary to off spin bowling, like the English have been to seam and spin bowling.

Let the Test begin and may best team win.

Second edit.

Blog: Pleasant clouds and evening

I wipe my glasses clean and peer down on my laptop screen hoping to word my thoughts and arrange my expressions and thoughts into something tangible, something concrete, and something that is totally trivial and whimsical. There are at times when I genuinely want to write something but nothing appears on the MS Word document that I use to write my blog. The blank document is anything but reflective of my mind, I guess that it is the unbound, unlimited, all encompassing laziness that one tends to get engross in. Not that blog is like a breathing exercise; I will not cease to be a being or think nor cease to exist even if I don’t blog, the wheel of time will continue to turn and tides will rise high and fall low.

By the way just for the record, today was one of the more pleasant evenings I have had. The reason of the pleasant evening was a cool, fresh gale of air that went around after a shower a dusk. I admit this isn’t the first pleasant evening of this season, perhaps the Monday made me appreciate it better than most other evenings. So otherwise in a hapless life gave me a moment to just stop worrying about the crowded train in which I was travelling.

I thought of reading a novel, finished reading Brida by Paulo Coelho three weeks back I think. Brida the story swayed from one end of pendulum to another, but with restraint and some patience I managed to finish reading it. The restraint was perhaps my own constraint simply because I often wander if some notion of a book or a novel made me thinks. However, like most people who are not so religious about reading books/novel. It was a good read.

Is life a series of serendipitous events? If everything happens by chance where does fate come in? Do we trace back everything back to fate apart from failures? I am sure of one thing that failures are stepping-stones of success. Often one is tested for patience alone. I mean you may be doing everything correct, in correct manner at the appropriate time and still may not see result in your own favour. One possible reason is to be patient.

Of course there is an argument then, how would I (read you) know? The wise in me would say that when situations progressively get tough and you are motivated to move on and face those tough times rather being held back by conscience who dissuades you and guilty takes over reason and rationale.

I don’t know what I was born to do. I don’t think I have met many people personally who understand/know quiet early what they wish to do. I am not sure whether I was born to blog, but I enjoy it thoroughly. It helped my put some sense of coherence in my life. By no means much to my own embarrassment I blog regularly. I want to, at times this is an excuse and sometimes it is the reason. However, after having blogged for a while, and posted more than few posts, including a few cricket matches, a few snaps, a few tags, I am only looking forward for more. The reason is pretty apt and clear. An avenue convinces me that I have a will and urge to write, of curse you aren’t reading a Shakespeare, but I don’t see many people lining up to read either Shakespeare or me. Logic can make that two of a kind. Then, you can go phlegmatic if not stoic about you own blog.

At times you just want to sit on the floor, layback with your arm under head, just wondering, listening to some song, or watching the clouds float by in the evening sky. I wonder if someone who conceived idea of life actually wanted things so complex, so inexplicable so hard to express and so difficult understand?

Blog: Nobody wants to be lonely

Yesterday was 22/7/2009, aka Pi day. Google if you want u want more pie of the Π or Pi. Just incase u want to know more,if I may ... Π sates the relation between the diameter and the perimeter of the circle, meaning if the diameter is 7 units long then circumference would be 22 units. It seems Π was first letter of the word perimetere and periphery. Chinks define Π as 335/113, the convention is to use 22/7. It has host of other notion the deeper you dig into Maths>Calculus>Trigonometry>Imaginary numbers>Etc. it tend to be fun working out sums on Definite Integrals.

Today/Pi Day/22-7-2009 was also a Solar Eclipse otherwise a rare phenomenon and like all things rare and phenomenal its awesome to experience. I had my doubts about the eclipse. No, I knew the logic and the reason and the cause and the effets and all. I was just wondering that Solar eclipse is the time when you see the Moon in the day and don't see it in the night. It's so simply because the Solar eclipses ought to happen on a New moon Day. There was a pdfs I had got on how stock markets tend to dip in the fortnight between the new Moon day and full Moon day and the trend reverses in the next period.I believe that the study was done in one of the Scandinavian countries which took the data of stock markets across Europe. It was a thirty years of data,so it was a pretty exhaustive study. It just suggest a trend, a tendency or market's rather something written on stone.I was just thinking about it this morning, it felt a bit weird till the point stocks markets ran up the hill till noon and then later skewed to red, in literally an eye wink.

So much for the Pi Day and markets and numerology and Astronomy and Astrology. One think is for sure, our life is the only one example in which assets side and liabilities side will always match.I must be honest for someone who is tempted by numbers and may take up finance for earning bread and butter. I might never ever go much beyond just think about it, but spirituality and philosophy are so fun. Yes it is for people who are a bit into idolatry. I believe spirituality is one experiment which if you try, then you wouldn't fail. Philosophy like spirituality is dynamic, changes every moment, but does guide you to finding way to what you think and what makes you think.

Like all I too have certain naivete, notions and premonitions evolve and break everyday and that happens more than once in a day.

When was the last time one song made you write a blog post। It is not about the the singers, it is about the words and emotions that they is the singers convey. It buzzed for a while in my years, I thought why not pass it one, you know the Butterfly Effect.

I don't know if your blog is an extension to yourself or your personality. Is it just a mask that we put on? OR it is an echo meandering within us, that wishes to finds a way out in forms of what we couldn't (read wouldn't) have normally expressed. Blog friends are weird "species" of friends. You know them (at least you think so) but you haven't met them (not all, I guess) you look forward to their posts and comments, at times go far to expect them to comment or blog what you wish to read or write. But I think my blog is kinda canvas for me. While I paint what I like, it is free for other interpretation. Other may interpret the painting with the same intention as I would have drawn/sketched it. They may have another interpretation of it. They may not understand it at all, but at least they (people who blog hop) at least would agree that the post was written. They may not willingly accept and rather grudgingly disaprove, but being indifferent to a post is something difficult, provided the blogger blogs and someone reads it.

I will try to get it scanned and then upload it again. I imagine just the face of it would make a good profile pic!!!
