Raju Hirani again pulls out a rabbit from the hat. Wonder if wake up Sid + Taare Zameen Par = 3 idiots. I mean I am not comparing the plots frame by frame, but certain hues out of those movies do match in weird ways. Taare Zameen Par, convinced every child is special, it showed how the kid pretty much through practice, and dedication and interest exhibits his creativity in form of paints and sketch, Wake Up Sid was more about utilizing the best you have. Both the films, do make a certain point that failures must not be a roadblock for you as a person to explore new ideas.
Aamir Khan plays almost a dream merchant and the drama revolves around him and almost like a dream merchant he plays a be good do good to various characters in the movie. There won’t be critical evaluation, of the whole movie or I may not describe you the best scene or song of dance. I would instead try to recollect and place my own, example as the movie goes forward.
I did remember the days back, when even I was a young bloke in hostel, gullible but gregarious. I too have a few good and fond memories and few not so proud moments, some of the incidents in the movie were hilarious, but then bit dramatized. If drama is absent then the movie is reduced to your favourite actor sans their make up. Reality punches the breath out of your lungs.
Some incidents were parallel, not exact but yeah fun. But three hours a bit downer and I don’t know why the ticket prices are jacked up. I mean come on man, Rs 250 and three hours out weigh the movie, in my opinion. But now are the days when product could be sold or bought on attribute of packaging. The movie is light hearted. People have done a good job, as the movies fold and unfold in different ways. It does reconfirm my view I had formed back in college that I met some incredible people back then some great pals. I mean since all of us were in the same boat, we could obviously relate ourselves to each other. Anyone who lived and studied hostel won’t just say that they just did their graduation. At least sub consciously they knew, they learnt to navigate through life.
It is good fun to see the movie and understand in different ways people behave and act and react. But then I don’t get paid to write reviews. There is more than conviction required to say “All is well.” which is the mantra of the movie.

Blog: Bolt of Sunshine
Waking up early if good, but if you got up before 4 in the nite, thats 4 A.M. and then you see the sun rising, you can almost feel the tickle of sun rays if not bolt of sunshine. The days has just started for me. I am wondering, if I buy my own silence when I blog?
So let there be peace. (silence, that is)
* Yearning to add to this post. Let see, how the day spreads out to be.
India wins the series. Brilliant.
Time to reminiscent of what happened through the year, extend weekend on the offering, festive greetings. All of thrill in the air. Lot many things to be thought off, lot many things to do, with exams around the corner, the verve for the New Year party isn't quiet there. But then there is always more to look forward to rather than look back at.
Something that roving within me one of the articles which suggested that we are relying too much on Internet, which is hampering out creativity because are problems are in real world hence solutions to those should also be thought in the real world. A few noises bickering inside me. Yes I had resolved to write apart from cricket, but I often feel that my thought are nascent and radical. Here radical means mocking and challenging my own self rather than kick dirt into someones face or demeaning someone emotions, ideas beliefs or those kind of things. I dont want to take off anything that I post. I dont want to create any havoc for which I will have to write another half a dozen post. Yes I can take the comments of those posts, but thats not my idea of post.
I am actually thrilled to have written for so long. Now consistency is the challenge. I have written many a blog post only finding myself to bored to post it. I think blogging once in three days is perfect for me. But then you get so absorbed in your own ideas, rest of the things appear to diminish into sweet little nothings.
I always thought changing myself was easy. I am slowly realizing it is not. I don't seek to galvanize myself, I want to undertake a metamorphosis besides thinking and wanting to write I know there is more to my life. I tired searching Google to know whats the aim of my life, bloody Net got disconnected. :P
On a serious note, humour is must in life. Not many who read this may find it amusing, but I did afford myself a chuckle to myself as I was writing this one.
Festive Greetings.
You Are Merry and Spontaneous |
![]() You approach the holidays with joy and playfulness. You refuse to let the holidays be stressful. They should only be about fun. The holidays truly make you feel like a kid again. And you believe it's your job to make everyone else feel like a kid too! Of all the types, you're the most likely to give someone a gift early... because you can't wait. You're also the most likely to wrap your presents quickly - or not at all. |

Blog: Long nite tonite
This is the real time snap of the planet I got it from here today is winter solistice, ie longest nite and shortest day of the calendar, of course for the northern hemisphere. The year is almost over and the new year is on the door step. The new year would be rushing with a Full Moon nite, which would also witness a Lunar eclipse, this year and day started and ended on the same day, Thursday. As if this year was short of action.
My semester exams begin early in Jan, and will last for like a fortnight. I would love to look back at the year, but will do it some other time. Lets just label that as fodder for thought and ruminate on that. I often wonder if I have left the ages behind or I am behind the herd by ages ... :P such is life. But somehow I prefer the time which will come rather than rue what happened. I always believe you can repair the damage or loss of the previous day, but for that you be a determinied, ever persevering and genuine, show a show of touch up wont help the cause.
Nothing fails as COP15 (read failure)
Some concerns in last few days were Copenhagen, someone on twitter suggest it is Nopenhagen. Something concrete coming out was remote, so the fiasco wasnt a suprise to me. USA did promise some cuts which only pointed to their moral bankruptcy apart from Financial riches which we have now been accusmoted to (by now). I thought they would be true world leaders and come out with agressive Carbon cuts, wasnt to be. The world largest polluter should accept their misdoings and convince there scientist and policy makers in a positive direction.
I mean everyone pointing towards India and China, I am convinced that the American and European companies operating there subsidiary in developing countries including India and China don't follow respective European and American norms of emissions. I don't imagine emission norms in India (if not China) are as strict as the norms of some of the developed countries. I would have loved to see the emissions level of a company operating in say USA or Canada or Australia and their, subsidiary working in India. It would make such an interesting reading.
No I am not suggesting India and China or Ethiopia should just keep on pumping Carbon into the biosphere in the name of developement. I am strictly for strict, enforcing emissions cute which would ensure Carbon emission reduced gradually. I think there is a case especially for India to invest into Solar, Hydro and Nuclear energy. Dont get too skeptic of word Nuclear, it sis urely for electicity. I mean imagine the business sense in going from conventional energy to solar and hydro power. I am a big fan of use of solar and wind form of energy. Ther is a lot more can be done. There is also a case od developing Green Houses to fight Green House Gases. Plantation and increase forest cover is the surest way of reducing if not reversing effect of Green house Gases.
Would you agree the growing population is challenge towards afforestation and re-plantation of tress? Yes? Here is where more sense comes into picture. I would love to cite, the example of Jaipur city. In many of the residential areas a group of 9-12 houses have a common garden so each house has access to may be three to four garden in the vicinity. Think about it a lot could be done that would be beneficial to al, instead of just piling concrete columns one on top of another.
But then it is something I just wish to see being implemented. The sooner the better. But then it is just a hope, dont see that happening on as large a scale as we can.
American citizens perpetrators on 26 Nov 2008?
Second controversy that haunts me is David Headley or whatever his name is. I don't think he is the king pin of the whole affair. The gut feeling suggest so. He is the fall guy. I don't think he worked alone, so there is a terrorist network thriving in USA. CIA did come out saying that neither Rana or Headley/whatever didn't work for them. Logical statement, nothing suprising. But then there has to be obviously more to this. Mumbai Police came out after 26 Nov 2008 that there was no ground support for the terrorist, that theory at least is put to rest now, and there was a definite plan with the terrorist that nite, they were definitely not wandering mercenaries. It would n't be wrong to assume, that the terrorist were trained personnel. They may have been trained for years, before they operation was even conceived. I mean to keep National Security Guards a bay for 60 hours, is something not you or I can do. I mean just civilians wont be able to do that. I requires some advance training with lot of co-ordination planning and exemplary skills. I can just pray that I am wrong and note making a mountain of a mole hill. But the fact is the 26 Nov 2008 want just a mole hill.
Can we do a Munich for conspirators of 26 Nov 2008?

Cricket: India Numero Uno
There are couple of reasons for Indian cricket fans to rejoice a clinical performance by Indians to beat Lankan 2-0. All that noise about Test matches are breathing their last, franchisee debate, and other noise can take a breather for a while, coz Test matches are the foundation of cricket and I don’t see any building lasting for long if the foundations eroded, or undermined.
It's a long post, since it is a series review it better be a long one. So it is match by match the whole review of the series, stringed with who did what and when. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.
First Test, Ahmadabad
Early morning jitters, India 32 for 4
The writing was pretty much on the Wall and didn’t he stand tall? India tottering at 32 with big names and big guns trailing back to pavilion often the case Dravid kept his head down and stood the storm, also scored run and steered India to some respectability, Yuvraj eased of the work load and then Dravid went on to make a century. Captain courageous, MSD also added muscle with a stoic century in the first innings.
Jayawardene, the long distance runner.
Jayawardene almost easily fits into any batting situation and can change gears so easily, his batting is pristine and very good looking to the eye something same as Dravid. They both bat in such similar fashion. Jayawardene batted and batted and simply dismantle India bowling after Dilshan flayed it to all corners. The pitch was a dead beat, as is the case with most Ahmadabad pitches. Dilshan is having such a good time and at this point in time made no false stroke. He blasted the India bowling and rightfully earned a century, the keeper Jayawardene also notched up a meaty 154, and all hopes of a result had ended.
Gambhir and Tendulkar score tonnes.
It was for gone conclusion that the match would be a draw. Sehwag made amends scored a fifty, Gambhir the best India batsmen in any form of the game played a solid innings and with every run he scored, possibility of a draw become stronger. Tendulkar perhaps played on the easiest fifth day pitch ever in 20 years of profession top level cricket. At least it was an easiest hundred (if there is one) he would have ever made. But runs have to be scored. In the dying moments of the day he completes a terrific feat.
Second test, Green Park, Kanpur.
Runs were flowing, alrite.
Green Park one of the traditional venues in India cricket history others being Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengalluru. Jasu Patel an off spinner was bought back and scripted a magnificent tale of beating Aussies. He was the one who held the India record for most dismissals claimed by a bowler, before Kumble had got perfect 10. These venues again saw a famous India victory, that too by a huge margin. Sehwag, Gambir and Co set of the pyro and before the dust settled, Lankan were forced to follow on, courtesy a bewildering spell by Sree Santh. Sehwag smacked a century at better than run a ball, Gambhir not wanting to miss out again and extended his good form also came up with superlative century, Dravid again stamped his authority ensuring there are no unwanted hiccups. This was the first instance since 2003 that Sehwag scored a century and didn’t cross 150. Dravid was out the only way he could be out, falling short do the crease at non strikers end, worst way to get out. Sehwag, Gambhir and Dravid together scored more than 400 runs; Lankans were looking at the wrong end of the barrel. India having scored nearly 650 runs at more than four an over meant Lankans were always catching up.
Lankans follow on, only to falter again
The mad cap Sree Santh, gifted with such beautiful action and just back creating havoc for Warwickshire on the county circuit under watchful eye of Donald, came from nowhere and made Lankan cold sweat. He made the ball do the talking and the ball seamed and swinged and Sree Santh brought back the memories of South Africa. The ball to get Prussian Jayawardene was a peach and could have got any right hand batsman. Amazing control. He kept on plugging away. He got a 5 wicket haul and redeemed himself, and grabbed headline news for cricketing reasons off course all with positive intent and connotation. Lankans forced to follow on. At the end of the fourth day they were trailing in second innings and the score read 57 for 4, the result was in sight for the Indians, the job was just half done.
Bit more shocks and India snubbed the remaining six wickets.
Final Test, CCI, Mumbai.
Again a chapter in History beacons, Wankhede under construction saw Brabourne hosting a test match first time in over 36 years. Sangakarra won the toss and elected to bat.
What seemed good …?
Lankans battled hard, Dilshan boosted the scoring rate and also getting one more century. He looks so formidable and nearly impossible to dislodge. Lankans batted for a day and a session and scored nearly what seemed a good 400 hundred. Sehwag also had a few ideas and few strokes up his sleeve.
Gambhir opting out paved way for Murali Vijay. Sehwag and Murali, opened the innings. Their scoring rate opened the flood gates and Sehwag kept on pumping boundaries and sixes. No way was Muralidharan was allowed to dominate. Murali meanwhile matched Sehwag stroke for stroke, if not in quantity then surely in quality. He provided ample support and made sure Sehwag wasn’t starved of strike. Sehwag kept on smashing thunderbolts. I mean with what regularity he score over 150. There was more agony. It was the second time in couple of years that Sehwag scored a double century stand with two consecutive batsmen. I mean alrite you have to physically be there in sun all day, but the mental strength to keep going on was immense, all with a smile, Viru kept licking his lips and smacking them to all parts, last half and hour saw Viru cooling down, Dravid did bulk of the scoring.
India high on MSD
In order to rub it in, India had a quiet second day until an hour after Tea when Dhoni, seemed to be cursing decided to go berserk. Lead nearing 300 and Dhoni kept ignoring singles and kept hitting sixes, all of a sudden 100 was in sights. Dhoni smacked on of hearth way out of CCI and claimed a six and bottled a 100 and declared with Lankans trailing with 333.
The day of reckoning not to be.
I had imagined Lankans being all out in the day, wasn’t to be. They fought hard and looked to put intrepid performance, Paranavithana looking cool calm and composed. Bhajji got his man Dilshan padding up and the slide started. Zaheer meanwhile put his hand up and bowled with great heart and control keeping the runs tight, three quick wickets in the session and one though Lankans would just go bust. Sanga held fort and what looked like a fighting century was there for the taking. He smacked a very good hundred,
The final day.
Sanga the hero of the earlier day started with couple of boundaries only to be foxed by Zaheer, again. Zaheer on romp with a fifer up for grabs. One dog in short was to big to keep down for Heart, Ojha taking it neat, only two steps away from a victory. Sree Santh didn’t bowl for some reason. I wished he would have. Bhajji was persisted with. Another short pitch ball saw Kulasekara edging Zaheer to Laxman. Murali on the prowl was some quick runs. A couple of hefty hits and one of Bhajji. Bhajji floated and tossed one just a bit higher, Murali edge Bhajji to Dhoni and India completed the test win, flayed Lankans 2-0 in the series and were rewarded with Numero Uno Status of best Test Playing Team.
It was a very emphatic series win and the clout of Dhoni continues to grow. So far so good.

Blog: Do Lives move on?
For the moment, my twitter account and FB updates are eating into my blogger account, I managed to sync, twitter and FB so these days blogs are seldom happening, meanwhile FB status updates and tweets are riding the crescent of the wave so to speak (read update). As wheel of time has moved on, an year has gone by since the dreaded 26 November 2008. I managed to watched some documentaries on Nat Geo and Discovery, and felt cold blood running through my veins and I gnawed and ground my teeth in utter frustration and dismay at what I heard and saw on the TV set. I mean yes people attacked, and there are a courageous few who stood up in the faced of death. Not many would remember there names, but a few lives were forced to change their course forever.
Personally for me the following have no proof, but I consider these as refutable.
There is another thing which am I truly misunderstand, the stance of every scribe and anyone with a mic in his hand and camera on his face screeching the resilience, and all that noise, exclaiming how the city has moved on and how it simply won't bow to anyone, etc. I mean as if there is a choice. I guess not, whatever happens life just moves on and we should take the cue. Simply not done. One more question to ponder, if News Channels now, are more entertainment then information. Considering some news channels are just alive because of sites like Youtube etc, I prefer to look at the source itself. Blogs are updated faster while it takes time to copy those and mutilate them and turn them to feeds for News Channels.
A line from the movie Patriot come to my mind, "Why should I trade one tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants one mile away?"
26 November placed a scar in my mind. The ill preparation, casual lack of purpose and deeds of people in post responsibilities hurt me more than misdeeds of Commandos who posed as terrorists.

Got this pic from Amul's website.
Personally for me the following have no proof, but I consider these as refutable.
- It wasn’t an act of terror; it was an act of War.
- Mumbai in spite of being in most vulnerable didn’t not learn from the past and rather chose to remain stoic.
- I simply cannot believe there were no intelligent inputs, ground support for the shams which were perpetrated.
- Bullet has no name; people of all kind were struck down, no ones safe.
- Our Police Laws which were supposedly framed in 1860 (A.D.) and consequently remained unchanged for what seems to be forever need a major re-haul ASAP.
- No one is accountable - police, politicians, pot holes.
- R.R Patil came back to become the Home Minister, iss des mein aisi chhoti naatein hamesha hoti rahengi.
- I and you need to look at ourselves and define our (Mine and Your) role in the society.
- I am not sure who is guilty of what, but I am beginning to feel the guilt of a shameful citizen.
