About: The Switch.

The dismay of India bowing out of DLF cup subsided as soon as it was possible for me to make the switch to New Blogger Beta. After a template screw up and some dismay, I managed to get into the new scheme of Blogger Beta, needless to say that I will try to reinstall a few features including the "Read Comments", I hope it is possible to do that here.

I hope everybody has a rocking weekend. I think I will be needing to post something in the new week.
So long Adios ...

Cricket: It aint over until ...

They say it is never over untill the last run is scored or the last wicket claimed. As off now when i decided to post this one West Indies stand at 145/9 chasing India's meagre score of 162. They may win they may loose, this is perhaps One Day Cricket at it's best. It is so close to life. It is afterall a game of glorious uncertainities.

More coming up in next 24 hours. ...

The following is the Second Edit along with the review.

I did not manage to "see" the match but managed to "see" the scores Live. The internet offcourse. There was a bit of nastalgia as I missed a walkman tugged in my trouser pockets and listening to commentary in guise of attending a lecture in college. The trick was pretty simple. tugg in a walkman into your trouser were a t-shirt/ shirt and make it sure it is not tugged in. One needs good crisp earphones, which is ably supported by long connecting wires. This was entangled with the vest and I could listening to commentary in middle of lectures. Those were the best days of my life ... perhaps.
Anyways radio wasn't there net was.

The start ... looks whats the score.

The first look at the score made me relaised that India has lost four wickets for nothing. There was more agony to follow though. I had started to pray for rain Gods even though I have seen enough of rains and things following heavy rains. The "missed calls" of prayers were never answered perhaps to my delight. The NEWS Media now makes the plan of day for Indian team. I heard on the news channel that with such famed batting line up can we win the World Cup. I thought Dude take the bat and "Go Play". Can you win any struggle of your life if you have convinced yourself to be a loser? The World Cup is far away and next match is damn exciting.
The delivery which claimed Dravid would have claimed any right hand batsmen, who ever played cricket. It was a stinger.
Sehwag did a little better on a ball which kept low, always suspect to incoming coming deliveries. He made a solitary single.
Yuvraj Singh who could put no foot wrong 3 months back now can't put a foot right. He seems out of sorts and out of thoughts and out of form as well. Wake Up Yuvraj.
Suresh Raina, showed his class with couple of thumping drives and then was goobbled up behind the wickets. He scored 11
MSD well we did not have enough of him he struck some thumping boundaries but sucumbed to a ball keeping low, he was bowled for 18.
Man of Match Harbhajan add spice and score to pretty ordinary batting display and managed to restore a touch of respectability to the score. He also struck a couple of sixes which might have pleased him. He was out to over amibiton he made 37.
Tendulkar is back and his century was no flash in the pan. he adjusted and made 65. He was unfourtunately run out.
Indian batsmen look out of osrts and form. Tendulkar needs nothing besides a bat to score runs. I hope the selection is wise before the match with Aussies see us hoping the next flight home.

Nehle pe Dehle.

India is one team that can make a One Sided match exciting. The Indian team has pulled off amazing defeats when the obvious result was from victory and they have also managed some thirilling victory when a loss seemed hell bent for a date. One inning doesn't always decides the fate of the match.
India just needed 10 good deliveries before Windies crossed the threshold of 162 runs. They managed to do that in some vengenace and at times gave Windies a taste of their own medicine courtesy some aggressive pace bowling headed by Munaf and company.
Sarwan getting out to Munaf was an exceptionaly good ball.
Hinds offered simplest of chance inform of a return catch to Harbhajan.
The middle and late order is so very fragile for Windies. I think Lara needs to bat on all eleven postion. He came late perhaps too late.
Wavell Hinds should open.
Chanderpaul two down Lara should be three down. West Indies have pretty decent lower middle order of Smith, Bradshaw and Samuels.

I hope they dont repest the show in finals.

Cricket: A calypso fiasco

It was a weird ODI match. This match was an example of a ordinary start a top order collapse a middle order repair and great flourish in the end of first innings. It was then followed by a rich start a huge pile of agony some poor strokes which were ridiculous at times. A big collapse and a great finish for Aussies. They always have some player bailing them out of trouble in the first innings it was Micheal Clarke and SHane watson who did some repair work and then while defending it was Shane Watson with the ball who did the trick taking four wickets.

Aussie start struggle and come on top.

Ian Bradshaw bowled his heart out. He is a prime example of how line and length will get you more then brute pace nad going up and down. He would have framed his bowling figures and may show it to his grand children.
Ponting came and had a net he wasn't much interested in singles and found an easier way to score runs. he just creamed West Indian pace bowlers for boundaries Lawson his main bunny. There was a top order collapse in which three wickets fell for nothing. I still don't know why Simon Katich is opening the batting for Aussies. I hope they find a better opener.
Clarke then eased out things and repaired the Aussie innings. he managed to save wickets so that there could be onslaught in the end. The plan proved decisive as the Aussies manged to rattle the West Indian bowlers and managed 100 runs in last fifteen overs. They managed to post a plush 279 in 50 overs. They canned the bowling and put up a good total. McGrath couldn't have waited to bowl at West Indians and get back to rhythm.

West Indies bang bang boom.

The West Indian start was cautious and then they decided to test the new Aussie bowling sensation Johnson who was praised by none other then Ricky Ponting. He was simply hit out of the park. Chanderpaul a make shift opener just kept them hitting away. The West Indian score was racing away. They manged to reach 120 odd without lossing a wicket and thats when West Indian dream started to end. Gayle was kept quiet and Chanderpaul was busy shredding the Aussies. Gayle offered a simple catch at backward point. Chanderpaul was then dismissed for 90. The West Indians were 172 for two at one point and then Aussies managed a huge collapse courtesy poor batting, judicious bowling and some neat catching.
The last 8 wickets or the (next 8) fell for just 29 runs and West Indies were all out for 201 with in 35 overs.

This match perhaps highlights how good are the Aussies and how ordinary are West Indies. The Aussies managed to win the match from an impossbile position. It is never over untill it is truly over.

Blog: From Blog Day to Today.

Time and flies.

Time flies so do flies. I am not trying to say flies are time. The point is time and flies both are irritating when they don't fly and make you look stupid and guilty and makes you wonder would the time fly if you were to read anything else on cyberspace.
The "result" of an event where there are lots of choices is the matter of choices and everyone has to live by his/her mistakes. I for example am often guilty of solving the right problems and then marking the answers wrong. Thats what I did one Novemeber morning in a classroom full of MBA aspirants. Anyways it has been all over and it had been one of my most enthralling, exuburent and self-satisfying days. The rest they may say is history. I dare not say so.
There is lot to blog about including a pending blog on Surat's floods. I think there is not aiota of what happenend as the streets as glistening and shinning clean although the traffic remains as chaotic as ever. The negative vibes which one got as soon as one entered the city from Varrachha Road are no where to be felt. The readers (especially the ladies) may not know the real significance of Varraccha Road. It is a road worth of all most 5 Billion Dollars. It is the diamond polishing and cutting center of the world. It is highly likely that every 4 out of 5 diamonds that one sees anywhere in the world might have made it's journey from a stone to a jewel, may have seen the face of Varrachha Road. It is all about a main road and hundreds of by lanes where thousands of hands work millions of hours to produce Billions.
I think I should take a little bit of pride in being an eyewitness to this. It is amazing.

Teachers Day/ Mother's Day.

The fifth day of September holds special importance in my life. It is teachers day and on this very fateful day my Mother celebrates her birthday day. After days of chaos and cleaning and whitewashing, I left office and reached the confines of home two hours later along with a small bouquest and cards for my mother. My tired parents expected me and were indeed happy for being at home. A late dinner followed by a snap ended the day.
The teachers Day is also special and remained so till the last one which I we celebrated in college. It use to fun. All of us somewhere have come against teachers which we felt amazing and some of those were emm not so amazing. There were some who commanded respect and others who came forward in camraderie. The days were so amazing and fun filled. The teacher idea remains as old as time. The role of the teacher is to diminish the feaar (mainly due to wrong notations) and induced interest by making things fun. The teachers have played such a big part in all our lives. May the heavens shower peace on them.

A lot of cricket controversies have taken place. I wish the weekend provides an opportunity to update along with two tags. I am looking forward to the "switch" to Blogger Beta. I hope thats is in place as soon as possible.
