It is always a Grand Slam of opportunities for players whenever Pakistan plays India. There has been a great discovery of player of the era whenever both teams have clashed. Sachin Tendulkar and Shoaib Akhtar are a few examples. The Pakistan bowling department is particularly interesting as it always has been. As I said, the pitch tells a complete story only after each team has batted once. This is a bowling wicket. India’s bowling department lack the sharpness required to scythe twenty wickets essential to win a Test.
Indian plan for tomorrow will be some how take eight more Pakistani for say 100 runs so that Indian target is below three hundred. It is easier said then done and seems highly unlikely. But you never know cricket is a funny game. They should look to bat sometimes after tea. That means that they will have more then six sessions to bat so there is a surety of a Test result.
Indian batting has to some of age. They should prove their worth although not many Indian have great numbers behind them when batting last in a test to win or save a Test. So let’s hope pray and wish some miracle to happen. The batsmen should play percentage cricket.
As for the Pakistanis: They should look to consolidate and then blast the Indian attack by betting on Shahid Afridi. They should look to play as long as possible as time is not an issue in this test match any longer I think five sessions are good to bowl out team like India. The reason is India has too many stroke maker and very few players who play for time.
It is lunchtime in Karachi with Pakistani scoreboard looking in pink of health as score is over 270 with most destructive of batsmen yet to come. The Pakistanis are in firm control of this test match. They are in the driver’s seat and looks as if they will drive it into their Parking slot. India has backs to the wall and it is an uphill task provided weather remains as it is at present. The shadow of defeat looms large over India at a sunny National Stadium, Karachi.

Blog: What happened on this Sunday morning?
“He has done it. It is a hat trick. Pakistan 3 wickets down for none” I believed I heard voices the Sunday morning was not quiet there although the Saturday night was very much a bygone era. I slowly realised I was really hearing voices but that was Dad exclaiming Irfan Pathan hat trick. After all the battering, the bowlers got from Indian media and Pakistani batsmen. I saw Mohamed Younis cleaned up by Irfan Pathan and Ramiz Raja beating Indian drums. He was obviously feeling the shock of three Pakistani batsmen back in the pavilion with a full moon on their score-sheets.
There were three more wickets, which fell. None was as delightful as one of Shahid Afridi whose stumps were sent cartwheeling by Zaheer Khan . It was the only wicket I saw “Live” others were in action replay. Then there was a same old story of a Pakistani fight back. Kamran Akmal is a very solid player. I reckon a score of 200 to 225 or more for Pakistan.
One doesn’t know how the pitch is until both teams have played at least an inning on the pitch. So let’s see. But I will back Virender Sehwag. The greener the pitch more likely is Sehwag to get runs on it. I think I am getting too soon into Indian batting. It is never over until it is over and the match has just started.
The other sporting story was Leander-Damm losing ( the doubles and Bhupathi and Hingis winning the mixed doubles(. Bhupathi know has won all the mixed double tournaments there are on offer. He uses his height and reach brilliantly. Meanwhile the shots that Martina played were artistic. She has an amazing measure of the court. Her lobs and volleys and passes were delight to match. The service I thought came under a bit of pressure but she held on and Bhupathi and Hingis won in straight sets. She has now 15 Grand Slam titles comprising of three Australian single titles 4 Australian double titles and one mixed double. Her dream of winning the Australian single title was over but to no surprises, she won the Australian mixed double titles.
Bhupathi know has won all the Grand Slam mixed double titles on offer. Beat that. There is an interesting match under way between Marcos Baghdatis and Roger Federer. Will Fed-Ex deliver?

About: The Saga of Australian Open 2006.
The first Grand Slam of 2006 is coming to a tantalizing end. It was dubbed to be a Grand Slam of Asia-Pacific. It is thankfully turning out to be so. This being courtesy players from China and India doing exceedingly well in doubles. Chinese women pip the top seeds to secure a first win at Grand Slam by a Chinese. Yan Zi and Zheng Jie clinched China's first ever Grand Slam title by winning the Australian Open women's doubles final in a spectacular come-from-behind victory Then not too far behind are Hesh-Lea (Mahesh Bhupati and Leander Paes) although not together they did well to enter final in double arena. Leander is with Martin Damm and Mahesh has team up with Martina Hingis in the perusing another Grand Slam.
Mahesh Bhupati a mixed doubles specialist. I think he really did well for himself and off course for India too, winning many Grand Slams. I hope both win in their respective category of watches. It will be good if they do it. How much media coverage will they get? This question needs another blog post. This is the only open which he has not won as of yet. He has tasted success at all other Grand Slam barring the Australian.

BEST OF LUCK MAHESH AND LEANDER.
There is a surprise finalist called Marcos Baghdatis. I have not heard of him much so …… While is write this post the semi-final match between Keifer and Federer is under way. Let’s hope the best player wins and goes through to play the finals.
The ladies final match is an interesting one. It is between Justin Henin-Hardenne and Amelie Mauresmo. Justin Henin Hardenne came through to final sinking Maria Sharapova on her way. It was a tough three-setter match. She came back from behind after dropping the first set and trampled Sharapova in the third set to book a ticket for finals in Rod Laver Arena. Amelie Mauresmo on the other hand had a two and half set against Kim Clijsters who retired due to an injury.

About: The end of a dream run?
It was a dream run for Martina Hingis who came back out of retirement to compete in Australian Open. There was no surprise when she steam rolled some of the players in the women’s draw. The fixture against Kim Clijsters was a tough one. But one needs to beat tough players at some point to win a Grand Slam. The million-watt smile was a pleasant surprise to grunting gruels of women’s tennis. She may be out of the open but this will definitely help in gauging herself with others. She will, by now know what she has to do to come on top again. The world of tennis has many sparkling comebacks but if Martina makes it to top again then it will be the most remembered one.
The match between Hingis and Clijsters started in the morning hours. We all know how exciting the match against India vs. Pakistan was going to be. Kim Clijsters was up for Martina Hingis. She just pulled rug from Martina’s feet and took early lead in a crucial match. The score read 4-0 in the first set. I knew it would be a tough match for both. It is always fun to see players with big serve against players with strong return. Martina was always catching upon Clijsters who won the first set 6-2.
The second set also saw Clijsters pushing the envelope taking an early lead. Hingis then showed her class and won six games in a row to take the second set. There were brilliant passes, winners and aces. Clijsters looked at sea when Hingis managed to sneak into the match by winning the second set.
Kim Clijsters wasn’t about to let go of this opportunity. The deciding set was all power show of Ms. Clijsters. She belted the tennis court all over Hingis’s court. She opened Hingis’s court with sharp passes and pinpoint volleys. Hingis was made to run all over the court. Hingis bowed down before the match ended. I think she played well to come out of retirement. The French Open will be an interesting one for Hingis as French Open is not all about power.
Clijster powered her way to the finals. As Lindsay Davenport bowed out of the tournament, earlier Kim Clijsters is the current number one.
It was a dream to see Martina Hingis back but the dream has ended might be she will go on to win a Grand Slam some other day.

Blog: Sports and Bewilderment.
♪ “Everything I do, I do for you….” says Bryan Adams shouting at the top of his voice blaring out of the computer’s speaker that can be distinctively heard by me and perhaps me alone. God I just love him. He will be there in India performing in Mumbai early next month. I would just love to be there seeing him sing and play the numbers which have bought me so much solace in bad lonely days when everything seemed stacked against me. I had a walkman and the only audio cassette which would make me realize that the only way out is walking through hardship was determination and hard work. Hard work is the shortcut to success. Nothing else matters.
The CAT 2005 is now history. I managed to secure a moderate 87 percentile. I am indifferent towards the score I managed. The reasons for my indifference are quiet contrary. I know, I could have done better. Could I have worked harder for a better score? I realised so as soon as I walked out of examination hall and realized I had screwed up with at least SIX marks. It may not sound much. However, that is now history.
The days after CAT were like sitting in a compartment of a train staring into oblivion and bewilderment. The journey is long and tedious.
Then came XAT which I felt derailed the whole train. I have not heard many saying that I did well in XAT. I have a similar type of experiences before, when I was doing my engineering. If the paper was tough and everybody screwed then I had a feeling that I will manage to scrape through without having to face dire consequences. I managed to do so barring once in third and once in seventh semester.
That’s was history. There are few things coming up along with my favourite singer who as I have written before will playing in Mumbai. Then there one more exam called CET for colleges like Jamuna Lal Bajaj, S.P. Jain along with host of other B-Schools in Maharashtra. Then there is the ongoing test series between the batsmen of Pakistan and batsmen on India.
There was too much interruption on the weather front ending the match in a bore draw. When teams like India and Pakistan play and match each other man for man in terms of quality, talent and form. If one team then happens to score runs in excess of 550, the opposite team is not great deal of pressure. The reason is that they know the pitch is a life less one. I think Indians led by Dravid may also thinking on the same lines. I feel sorry for Tendulkar, he had no match practice and had to come to face Shoaib Akhtar running in and hurling balls in the speed on 95 miles per hour not easy.
Then Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni and Pathan played well. India was in a big hole but now Pakistan is in a bit of Dhoni’s hammer. He and Pathan just turned the tables on Pakistan before they thought they would take away the cake.
If Dhoni and Pathan are, still there when the scoreboard reads 500 then Pakistan will be hunting leather. I hope Indian play beyond lunch and surrender half an hour before tea. The onus is with Dhoni and Pathan. India has to inch in as close to Pakistani score as possible to make sure that when the match is drawn there is more bonus points for India.
The Australian Open is slowly turning out to be a Cliffhanger with some interesting matches coming up later in the week. There is Roger Federer claiming his rightful number one tag along with Martina Hingis moving up amongst the women’s ranking. The Russian challenge still hold good with doll nightie clad Sharapova. I think I will buy myself some Swiss chocolates of Hingis and Federer together win the Australian Open.

Blog: Switch to Australian Open.
The pitch at Lahore was the main reason to switch from Cricket to Tennis. There is a Grand Slam, which is under way in Melbourne, Australia. This hard court tournament is often a cemetery for seeds just as Lleyton Hewitt and Venus Williams found out. The Indian teen queen, Sania Mirza bowed out in Second round. I heard on TV “Super Sania crashes out of Australian open” with due regards and nothing against Sania she is at present not exactly a favourite to win a Grand Slam. I think she has truckloads of talent and I hope she does India proud by winning big matches. If she does this on continuous basis, there is no reason why she can’t be on top of the heap. There is a big scope of improvement in her serve.
I would like to talk about Lleyton Hewitt. He some times fails to please and some times over assertive and over aggressive about his game. If he uses this properly, he is likely to express a better form of tennis. I did say he fails to impress and he did lose his second round match. William sisters the power house of women Tennis again got a false start with Venus whittle away in the harsh Aussie summer and Serena made to stretch for her victory. I thought I saw more than one Chinese girl playing in the tournament.
These days women tennis is a Russian roulette more than anything else. They all are fragile looking glamour dolls serving at close to 180 miles per hour. That’s some power.
There is much media attention in women Tennis for obvious reason. This I think is a positive for the game of Tennis. If there has been any media adequate attention in women’s sport, I think it is in the game of Tennis.
Martina Hingis is centre of everyone’s attention. She has come out of retirement to compete again hopping over series of ankle injuries. She is just 25. She has won everything, everywhere and grinded everyone to dust. I must tell few incidents you about the Swiss Miss. She seeked permission to enter “Wimbledon Ball” coz she was less than minimum permissible age of 18 to enter into the ball. The second one was serving Steffi Graff an under hand serve in the French Open which was last for Steffi Graff and then soon hung her racket. Steffi was awesome.
Juan Carlos Ferrero won a tough five setter this morning. I love the Grand Slam just for one reason; I get to see five setters. It is good fun to watch. Roger Federer is the obvious certainty to pick up some silver ware. He plays Tennis which is an absolute delight to watch. No noises no fuss just goes there play hard and win. I love his game. It reminds me of Sampras. I hope he stands up and wins more Grand Slams then Pete Sampras.

Cricket: Otherwise, forgettable tests match.
Pakistan: 679/7 declared Younis Khan 199
India: 410/1 Virender Sehwag 254
When a team scores such heavily in the first innings of the test match there are a few eye –brows raised. There were nearly eleven hundred runs scored without an innings even being completed. This pitch should be a prime example of what a Test pitch shouldn’t be. There was a lot of lot of things were said, when Pakistani flayed the Indian attack all over the Gaddaffi Stadium. What happens, is when a team against a decent attacks piles up such a big score the team which is supposed to bat next is hardly worried because the Indian batsmen who were chasing leather for first two days might have measured the wicket and back themselves to pile the equal amount of agony for a very good Pakistani attack.
Virender Sehwag was centre of all attraction for obviously the score he made equally commendable is was the time spend by the Indian captain in middle. He shut all doors and made sure Sehwag attacked the Pakistani bowlers all the way.
The Pakistani captain on the other hand would be thanking heavens for not letting the Sun out and saving Pakistan a lot of blushes. If the weather had interfered, India would have nullified the deficit.
Sehwag does love the Pakistani attack and seem to enjoy playing in Pakistan. He will always keep the viewer on the edge of the seat because of his mercurial, unnerving and uncertain brand of batting try checking out what happened a couple of deliveries before he was out. I think it is only Sehwag, who knows what he is doing and what exactly is going to happened when he decides to offer a shot to a delivery. This Pakistani tour meant to test a few Indian players Sehwag certainly is one of them with Ganguly axed captain, Tendulkar not yet cent percent and few others who have slipped into zone of inconsistency.
I think now the case of from-the-bizarre-to-the-ridicule is staring in the face. Is there going to be an over correction in playing conditions that will be offered. I hope the next Test pitch should not be where a test batsman finds it hard to even connect with the ball. I remember last Tour such similar thing happened. I for one remember the last tour for the wicket of Moin Khan taken by Sachin Tendulkar. It was an enthralling piece of leg spin bowling. I dare say any leg spinner would be proud of that delivery. Moin Khan, who previously had been a thorn in Indian flash, was all squared up and bowled though his legs for not too big a score. I don’t mind seeing that dismissal again.
There is hardly any media hype for this tour. The stands are empty. The news about the tour a bore. There is no fever this time round. Let’s hope and pray from some better pitches and close cricket.

About: Tooth brush.
When does one changes his/her toothpaste? The answer although glaringly evident, when the tube get over and there is nothing more to squeeze. Then only you go in for the next tube of paste. The refill of a ballpoint pen is changed after there is no more ink that can be scribbled on the rag. One may polish/wash the shoe depending on the face value of the shoe. However, how does one know when to change the toothbrush?
I was coming from Nagpur (where I studied) to Surat (where I live). This morning when I was two hours away from Surat station, I happen to take out my toothbrush from my handbag and some thing struck me. When does one know when to change the toothbrush? I have been changing my toothbrush all my life but that has been at random at the very best.
I think hair and teeth are definite signposts of a person’s health. There is a definite positive value of having a healthy covering of hair around the skull. I know people do spend a fortune on having the right set of teeth and right amount of hair around the head.
The profit margin in dentistry is one of the highest. It is a specialist job. I read this about teeth somewhere
“Some pains are physical, some are mental; but one which is both is purely dental.”
The teeth may be rugged and tough but they need to be taken good care. They form a vital part of human wealth and as everyone knows “Health is wealth”.

About: XAT-Atom Bomb on Paper
My endeavour for cracking XAT started with a long ticket line at Kandivili Station.I find it difficult to digest as to where people are going early Sunday Mornings.Anyways i manged to get an empty seat and chucked along to Bandra, thats where my center was. This is the first center whose location I knew well. There were smiling faces I saw every where s sign of perhaps things to come.
After some deliberations, announcements and instructions XAT for an entrance exam for XLRI started. It was a notch above CAT.I started with MATHS then beleaguredly soved D.I. I thought LR was easy and then moved on to English.Did a few missed a few.
Then we were also expected to write an essay on "Indian has a large manpower but very few technological innovations and patents" I managed to write it in 20 minutes, the stipulated time for the essay.
After 12:30 Pm tommorow i am feeling like i have been bombed by an atom bomb or I am living in a place going through a "nuclear winter"

Me ready to party.Should new year’s made on the eve of the New year only? Or are we allowed to ponder over grasp the situation and then decide? Say a couple of days. I am planning to come up with one as soon as possible. I think resolutions should be given enough thought apart from the fact we must not vow under foreign (read alcoholic) influence. No, I did not had any thing to drink except one big glass of cold coffee. This glass of cold coffee has been part of daily diet when for last six months.
The love for cold coffee grew out from the hatred of milk.I Just hate the taste left in my mouth after a glass of milk. But if u just add one teaspoon of coffee and sugar to my taste whip it in a mixer what comes of it tends to make my day.
The start to this year was a sedated and in an indifferent way. That’s how life been for last six months. There was an overdose of Kajra Re from Bunty Aur Babli. A few people were a little bubblier then normal. In hostel colloquial, they were “happy”. Anyone could smell the reason of happiness.
The clock struck 12 there were some fireworks, quite artistic I must admit. Then were only eager hands that I could see, as everybody wanted to wish everyone a very happy new year. Then everybody start to search for their mobiles. I tried to call couple of my friends and still trying to call them can’t get through them.I happened to have a good fortune to call up a few dear friends and my big brother and managed to wish them a very happy new year. The friends whom I called were busy partying, obviously. There were little exchange of words and many more exchanges of emotions. I look forward to meeting a few dear old friends in this New Year.
I wouldn’t make only one resolution I will try to make a few and try to do them as honestly as possible.
• I will also try to not only know the path but actually walk on it.
• One of them would be to mail as many friends as possible everyday.
• Try to stay in touch with as many people as possible.
• Update my blogs regularly.I am slowly getting addicted to blogging and I would like to come up with some better posts with more insights.
• Strike a balance between post on Cricket and other Posts.
• Try to find some physical exercise of interest and do it ardently.
• Read More and More.
• Learn to be patient and persevering.
• I have put on some 15 kilos of weight in last Six months. A few kilos off won’t matter all that much. A jog may be.
• Take more snaps.
This year a got a digital camera in my hands and my love of photography moved on from a roll-cam to a digi-cam. The snaps from roll-comp of coll a reminders of memory of the life time. I can proudly say that I have snaps of almost all the people of my batch. The digi-cam takes some amazing snaps. My father says the colour of the snap is better than the subject itself.
Let is see how the year unfolds and how the nature of post changes this year.
Cricket: S.A. vs Aus, Third Test
Scorecard
South Africa
First Innings:230/3
Kallis: 80*
There was rains in Sydney but thankfully the match started soon. When i switched on the telly the score read as 87/3.Gibbs was out to a delivery which any bowler would be proud off.The ball pitched just outside off-stump and hit the top of off-stump."the Bowler should not give the batsman the liberty of leaving deliveries. The best ball is one which hits the top of off-stump".That delivery did just that. The bowler was Glen McGrath.
He is one predictable bowler tough to keep at bay.He has knack of picking up wickets without giving any runs.He has a knack of getting top batsman out for nothing. The suprise thing for me was Warne just balling 7 overs out of 74.That may be due to the first day green color of the pitch.Greame Smith needs to score some runs and make them soon.
There is a reutn series where South Africa host the Aussies. He would want to do well.Ponting meanwhile put on foot wrong. He is playing his 100 Test. His recodr is unpeccable. But he is still to score some runs in India.
Long and winding road to the Test.I hope South Africa can put some good score and then take it from there. The evens seem to be shared on the first day

About: Hindi Movies, Cult Comedies.
“The world is divided into haves and have nots.” said Karl Marx. I am not getting into socialism and communism. But I believe it so, in light of these Hindi movies which have become cult classic over the years. These are a must see movies. This also reinforces that we too can make out and out laughter riot films instead of nibbling upon double meaing X rated stuff.
Not all these movies might have not got what it deserved but, better late than never. These movies are across the ages and feathures some of the finest actors of any era in Indian cinema.
There are likes of Mehmood the original king of comedy. Then there are some actors otherwise known for their serious acting. However they may be but these movies deseve a place on your DVD-VCD shelf. These are malicious free content which everyone will enjoy together with their families.
I have seen all these movies atleast half a dozen times either on the channels or getting a th CD on rent. These are out and out comedy movies.
My dream Cult hindi Comedies would be a collection consisting of
Andaz Apna Apna. (*Aamir Khan, Salmaan Khan, Shakti Kapoor)
Bombay to Goa. (*Big B, Mehmood, Shatrughan Sinha)
Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. (*Kishore Kumar, Ashok Kumar)
Chupke Chupke. (*Big B, Dharmender, Om Praksh)
Chameli Ki Shaadi.(*Anil Kapoor, Amrita Singh)
Jaane Bhi Do Yarron. (*Om Puri, Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah)
Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (*Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi)
Padosan. (*Sunil Dutt, Kishore Kumar, Mehmood)
Sadhu Aur Shaitaan. (*Ompraksh, Mehmood)
Golmaal. (*Amol Parlekar, Utpal Dutt)
If one has a funny bone u must see these movies and spread the message to others as well.
